Obituary For Albert "Unc" Roth

Albert Roth

October 28, 1929-July 24, 2025

Albert “Unc” Roth, 95, of Altoona, passed away Thursday the 24th of July. He was born in Braddock, PA, the youngest son of seven, of the late Alexander and Pauline (Herskowitz) Roth.

Unc cherished his family and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and family members from over four generations throughout the country. His family became extended by the caregivers at Graystone Personal Care in Altoona, Gentiva Hospice, and Scott Greene.

Albert graduated from Braddock High School and then Carnegie Institute of Technology with a BS in electrical engineering in 1952.

He served with the US Army as 1st Lt of the Signal Corp during the Korean War. Al lived in NJ and then CA, where he received the President’s Award for his volunteer service with Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center. Albert eventually moved to Altoona to be closer to family and spent many years as the inventory control manager for Sky Brothers.

He was an avid fan of local sports that involved his nephews and niece, and Unc enjoyed Pirates baseball, Penn State, Steelers and Chargers football games. He had a reputation for being quite the dancer! Unc was a member of the Agudath Achim Synagogue.

A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment was held at Agudath Achim Cemetery, Braddock, PA.
