Obituary For Anna Jean Young

Anna Jean Young January 1, 1929- March 17, 2023 Anna Jean Young, 94, of Inglenook Apartments, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, went home Friday to be with her Lord and Savior, by placing her faith and trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jean was born in Hollidaysburg, the daughter of the late George W. and Gladys A. (Focht) Slippey. On September 30, 1948, she married Donald R. Young who preceded her in death on February 23, 2016. She is survived by two children: Timothy Wayne Young and wife Randy of Bridgeville and Cheryl Ann Hileman and husband Stephen of Altoona; four grandchildren: Brian and Chad Young and Travis and Aaron Hileman; four great-grandchildren: Meagan, Macie, Maximus Young and Ryann Hileman and a great-grandchild expected in August; a sister, Margie Diehl of Greenwood; a sister-in-law, Y. Jean Young; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by a brother, George C. Slippey; and two brothers-in-law: Fay Diehl and Ken Young. Jean was a very active member of Altoona Bible Church. She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and worked as an assembler at GTE Sylvania and then retired from Chris’ Hallmark. Jean was a former member of McMahon’s Golf Club and enjoyed volunteering at the Altoona Hospital Gift Shop. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Altoona Bible Church where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. by Pastor Aaron J. Harris and Pastor Stewart W. McClelland. Interment will be at Alto Reste Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jean’s memory to: Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
