David and I attended Kindergarten together in 1959-60 in the class of Miss Esther Wharton at Garfield Elementary School overlooking downtown Altoona. Just 5 years old, we fashioned ourselves to be boyfriend and girlfriend. He kissed me (or I kissed him) once to many time until Miss Wharton asked us to stop so we wouldn't be sharing germs. He was a ruddy cute, freckled friendly boy, and just right for a little girl with no brothers. The lasting memory for me has always been that he was my first non-family love. I thank God for such a wholesome boy, whom I see turned out to be a godly man. My memory of him as a little boy has lasted these 64 years. May God comfort those of you who had the opportunity to know and love him too.
