Obituary For David William Hamilton
David William Hamilton July 11, 1945-September 8, 2021
David William Hamilton, 76, of Altoona, passed away at his residence after an extended illness from Parkinson’s Disease. David was born in Altoona, on July 11, 1945. He was the adopted son of Charles B. Hamilton and H. Jane Lupfer Hamilton, who pre-decease him. David was baptized at and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and grew up in South Altoona. David loved to collect container lids, restaurant coasters, gift bags, and empty boxes. He loved to share his treasurers with others. David enjoyed watching birds at his birdfeeder and spending time with his group-home housemates watching television or enjoying a meal outside on their covered deck. Going out to eat, car rides, shopping, and going to the movies were favorite past times. David loved people and had an incredible memory for people’s names. He loved to color pages from coloring books or draw pictures for the purpose of sharing his creations with friends and restaurant hosts. David was especially fond of Olive Garden. He enjoyed gifting one of his creations to the restaurant greeters. He would remind them to “put this on your refrigerator door.” Giving to others was very important to David. Among his favorite causes were the Mountain Lion Back-Pack Program, the Humane Society, choosing a child’s tag from a Christmas tree to purchase the gifts on their wish-list and numerous other causes that were dear to his heart. David is survived by his sister, Cynthia Hamilton Jarzab and brother-in-law, John, Jr., of Warren, PA. He is survived by his niece, Christine Jarzab Kuntz (Robert), and their children, Meredith and Thomas of Warren, PA and his nephew, John Jarzab, III, also of Warren, PA. He is also survived by his 23rd Avenue group-home housemates and by his wonderful, dedicated caregivers, past and present; especially Patti DePiro. Memorial contributions may be made to David’s favorite charity, Mountain Lion Back-Pack Program, 2301 Beale Ave, Altoona, PA 16601 Friends will be received Monday, September 13, 2021 from 11:00-12:00 with the service at noon at the E.
