Ernest Edgar “Ed” Schoening, Jr.September 3, 1939 – October 1, 2022Ernest Edgar “Ed” Schoening, Jr., 83, Altoona, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona.Ed was born in Johnstown, son of the late Ernest Edgar Schoening, Sr. and Jane Viola (Evans) Schoening.He is survived by two daughters: Karen L. Smith (Rick) of Altoona and Kristy S. Schoening of Williamsburg; a son, Michael A. Schoening (Stacy Mae) of Johnstown; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Schoening; a daughter, Kelly J. Schoening; and a sister, Dorothy Mae.Ed was a US Army Veteran serving in the 101st and 82nd Airborne and retired as an auto mechanic from Degennaro’s Sunoco.He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and VFW, and was a CB radio enthusiast, enjoyed working on cars, traveling, hunting and singing.Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.Arrangements are by E.
