Obituary For Hazel J. Minnigh

Hazel J. Minnigh July 20, 1936 – March 4, 2023

Hazel J. Minnigh, 86, Altoona, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at her residence. Hazel was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Leonard and Catherine (Kenney) Watson. On May 14, 1955, she married Chester W. “Chet” Minnigh who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Steven Minnigh (Cindy) of Bedford; two grandchildren: Stephanie Barr (Rod) and Stevie Summerville (Donald) all of Altoona; and three great-grandchildren: Addy Barr, Khloe Barr and Tavey Summerville. Hazel was preceded in death by siblings: Lenny Watson, Mabel Erdly, Fred Watson, John Watson, and Catherine Brandt. She was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Butterick Patterns after 44 years of service. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Grane Hospice for the excellent care she received allowing her to remain in her home; especially Heather Snyder who cared for her with compassion and dignity. A private funeral service was held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc.

    Steve, I was so sorry to see of your mother's passing. My mother cherished her friendship with your mother. They shared a challenge of raising you and my brother and they did a great job. I'm sure your mother has been reunited with your father and are now at peace. Larry Baronner
