James D. Benn, Jr. October 8, 1939 – July 17, 2021 James D. Benn, Jr., 81, Altoona, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday at UPMC Altoona, after a brief illness. Jim was born in Altoona, son of the late James D. Benn, Sr. and Mildred (Sheats) Benn. On January 14, 1967, he married Joynella Mae Price who survives. Jim is survived by his wife; two sons: Brian D. Benn (Lorraine) of North Carolina and Barry J. Benn (Teresa) of Altoona; a daughter, Holly J. Kemper of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Alyssa, Lauran, Anthony, Justin, Shaylee, Brandon, Sierra and Carley; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judith Werkmeister of Muncy. Jim was a 1960 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a member of Altoona Bible Church. Jim retired from Norfolk Southern as a car repairman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid football fan. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. by Pastor Stewart W.
