Obituary For Rebecca A. Proctor

Rebecca A. Proctor January 17, 1962-January 11, 2025

Rebecca A. Proctor, 62, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at her residence early Saturday morning, January 11, 2025. Born and raised in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Francis “Joe” and Eva (MacCourtney) Duncan. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, James Proctor.

Rebecca was a 1980 graduate of Altoona Area High School and earned her nursing degree from Mount Aloysius College. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, a role she fulfilled with compassion and skill until her retirement.

Rebecca’s greatest joys in life were her family and the simple pleasures of time spent together. She found happiness in crocheting, traveling, and relaxing by the ocean. Her love and kindness touched everyone she met, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rebecca is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Alyssa Proctor (Cody Caracciolo) of Chest Springs, Rachel Proctor (Jon Shaffer) of West Chester, and Courtney Proctor of Altoona; two cherished grandchildren, Triton Richard and Mavis Marie Caracciolo; and a third grandchild, Izabella James, expected in April. She is survived by her sister Aileen Duncan of Virginia; her four brothers, Kevin Duncan (Susan) of Oklahoma, Paul Duncan of Virginia, James Duncan (Sarah) of Maryland, and David Duncan (Becky) of North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Rebecca’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made in Rebecca’s memory to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.

Arrangements are provided by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
