Sarah A. Sutton

June 28, 1930-March 6, 2024

Sarah A. Sutton, 93, Altoona, peacefully passed away Wednesday at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mildred (Heidler) Tipton. Sarah married Harold J. Sutton, Jr. in April of 1949, he preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2018.

Sarah is survived by her four children: James J. Sutton of Duncansville, Robert J. Sutton and Mary Jane Walter of Altoona and William D. Sutton of Weaverville, NC; ten grandchildren: Traci, Timothy, Laura, Annette, Robert, Michael, Jennifer, Heather, Susan, and Lloyd; seventeen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Tipton of Rapid City, SD, and Leroy Tipton of CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Sutton and eight siblings.

Sarah was a graduate of Elgin High School in Elgin, Oregon and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

She retired as a caretaker from Home Nursing Agency Hospice.

Sarah was a member of Trans4mation Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until a noon funeral service, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601 with Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
