Wayne E. Hoover, 89, Altoona, formerly of Carson Valley, passed away on Thursday, at The Preserve at Cedarwood, Tyrone after an extended illness.

Wayne was born in Carson Valley the son of the late Brice D. and Minnie V. (Helsel) Hoover. On September 23, 1961 he married Virginia K. Hamer who preceded him in death on July 23, 2018.

He is survived by two children: Ross E. Hoover and Pamela L. Hettinger (Rick) of Altoona; 7 grandchildren: Steven, Alan, Jenna, Brendan, Ethan, Micah and Jacob; 4 great-grandchildren: Cali, Gibson, Peyton and Johnny.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; 3 brothers: William, Elvin and Edwin; and a sister, Alma.

He was a 1951 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1952-1954 and US Air Force veteran, serving until 1956.

Wayne retired from SKF USA Inc. after 30 years of service. Previously, he worked at Altoona Hospital as a photographer and technical support person.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.

Wayne entertained families for 20 years as Pee Wee the Clown in the Jaffa Shrine Circus. He loved photography and enjoyed sharing pictures with everyone. He served as a wedding photographer for countless friends and families throughout the years. He loved playing his guitar and listening to classic country music. He loved making people laugh and was an eternal jokester and always had a good joke or funny story to tell.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 at The First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, followed by a social gathering in the Church hall.
